President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev will undertake a state visit to China from April 22 to 24, following an invitation from Chinese President Xi Jinping, a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson announced on Monday.
The visit is expected to strengthen bilateral ties between the two nations, with discussions likely to focus on economic cooperation, regional security, and energy partnerships.
During the three-day visit, President Aliyev is scheduled to meet with President Xi and other senior Chinese officials. The leaders are anticipated to explore avenues for deepening collaboration under China’s Belt and Road Initiative, in which Azerbaijan plays a strategic role as a key transit hub in the South Caucasus. Trade, infrastructure development, and cultural exchanges are also expected to feature prominently on the agenda.
This marks President Aliyev’s first state visit to China since 2019, signaling a renewed commitment to enhancing diplomatic and economic ties between Baku and Beijing. The visit comes at a time when both countries are navigating complex regional dynamics and seeking to bolster strategic partnerships.
