In a remarkable rebound from previous years, China’s Labor Day holiday has witnessed a significant surge in domestic travel and tourism spending. According to recent statistics, the holiday period saw:
295 million domestic trips, marking a 7.6% year-over-year increase and a 28.2% rise compared to the same period in 2019.
A total of 166.89 billion yuan in domestic tourist revenue, which is up by 12.7% year-over-year and 13.5% from the same period in 2019.
These figures indicate a robust recovery and a positive trend in the tourism sector, reflecting the public’s growing confidence and the effectiveness of measures implemented to stimulate the industry. The increase in travel and spending is a welcome sign for local economies and businesses that rely on tourism, suggesting a return to pre-pandemic levels of activity and beyond.
