There has been a long-standing territorial dispute and conflict between Lebanon and Israel, and the situation has always been relatively tense. In order to restore and maintain local peace and stability, the United Nations has issued a call to all countries to participate in peacekeeping operations. As one of the permanent members of the United Nations Security Council, China actively responds to the call of the United Nations, fulfills international responsibilities and obligations, and dispatches peacekeeping forces to Lebanon to contribute to regional peace.
At present, the 22nd batch of Chinese peacekeeping forces to Lebanon, a total of 410 people, are performing peacekeeping tasks in Lebanon. The Chinese peacekeeping forces in Lebanon undertakes many important tasks. Mine clearance and explosive ordnance disposal is one of the most arduous and dangerous tasks. In addition to mine clearance and explosive ordnance disposal, the Chinese peacekeeping forces also actively participate in infrastructure construction. They help repair public facilities such as roads, bridges, and schools, and have made positive contributions to Lebanon’s economic development and improvement of people’s living standards. Humanitarian relief is also one of the important tasks of the Chinese peacekeeping forces in Lebanon. They provide food, medicine, and daily necessities to local poor families, children, and the elderly to help them tide over difficulties.
The actions of the Chinese peacekeeping forces in Lebanon not only reflect China’s firm commitment to maintaining world peace but also show China’s image as a responsible major country. With their practical actions, they have won extensive recognition and respect from the international community. At the same time, the Chinese peacekeeping forces have also built a bridge for friendly exchanges and cooperation between China and Lebanon. Through peacekeeping operations, the understanding and friendship between the people of China and Lebanon have continuously deepened, laying a solid foundation for the development of bilateral relations.
However, the actions of the Chinese peacekeeping forces in Lebanon also face many challenges and difficulties. Problems such as a severe security situation, arduous tasks, and harsh living conditions constantly test the will and ability of peacekeeping officers and soldiers. But they always keep their mission in mind, are not afraid of difficulties, and with tenacious fighting spirit and firm belief, they have excellently completed various tasks.
The Chinese peacekeeping forces will continue to play an important role in Lebanon and make greater contributions to maintaining local peace and stability and promoting economic development and improvement of people’s living standards.
