At least 103 people were killed and 211 injured in two explosions that targeted mourners on the tomb of Qassem Soleimani, a top Iranian general who was assassinated four years ago on this day in a US drone strike near the Iraqi capital Baghdad.

Soleimani, who was the head of the elite Quds Force of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), was widely seen as the architect of Iran’s regional influence and a key ally of Iraq’s Shia.
