Fateh’s Reformist Democratic Faction, condemns ongoing collective punishment of the Palestinian people in the Israeli genocide-plagued Gaza Strip, which has reached alarming proportions. This cruel and inhumane Israeli tactic, coupled with its constant indiscriminate airstrikes and artillery bombardments, has created an unprecedented dire humanitarian crisis in the besieged enclave.

Dimitri Diliani, Spokesperson for Fateh’s Reformist Democratic Faction, puts it: “Israel’s collective punishment, in addition to the ongoing genocidal air strikes and indiscriminate artillery bombardment, has left Gaza’s children in an inhumane situation where only 2.9% of the daily minimum humanitarian aid is allowed to enter Gaza.”

This restricted humanitarian aid falls tragically short of the requirements for survival. Notably, it does not encompass the vital fuel needed to power electricity, which Israel has cut off, rendering hospitals and other essential humanitarian facilities nonoperational.

Diliani asserts that the suffocating and inhumane collective punishment measures imposed on Gaza only exacerbate the already deplorable conditions of Israel’s pogrom on 2.3 million Palestinian civilians. Before the onslaught of Israeli genocide campaign and the medieval-style siege, Gaza used to receive an average of 500 trucks, laden with food, water, medicine, and other necessities, including 45 fuel trucks, primarily for electricity. It is vital to note that these quantities, as reported by the United Nations and various EU and international organizations, were insufficient to meet the basic needs of the Gazan population.

In stark contrast, since the commencement of Israeli genocide against Palestinian population in Gaza, only 374 aid trucks have been allowed to enter Gaza, and these were devoid of vital fuel supplies. This severe reduction in humanitarian aid access reflects a blatant disregard for the principles of international law, human rights, and the sanctity of life.

Diliani further asserts, “Israel’s actions represent an affront to justice, human rights, and the moral values. It is imperative that the international community holds Israel accountable for its actions and pressures it to halts these illegitimate measures and adhere to the United Nations’ demand for a ceasefire.”
