In a move to strengthen Sino-German relations, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has commenced his three-day visit to China, starting with the southwestern city of Chongqing. The Chancellor’s itinerary includes a visit to a Bosch hydrogen drive production facility and discussions with students on urban planning.
Chancellor Scholz’s visit marks a pivotal moment in diplomatic efforts, as he is set to engage in talks with regional Communist Party secretary, Yuan Jiajun, and enjoy a cultural experience with a boat trip on the Yangtze River.
The visit to Chongqing precedes his scheduled meetings in Shanghai and Beijing, where he will hold political talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang.
The Chancellor’s delegation includes top managers from leading German industries, signifying the importance of economic ties between the two nations. Notably, executives from Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and BASF are part of the delegation, highlighting the focus on automotive and chemical sectors.
