Hungary has lifted its veto, allowing the European Union to extend sanctions on over 2,400 Russian individuals and entities for another six months.
The decision, finalized Friday, came after Budapest secured the removal of four names from the blacklist following tense negotiations.
The sanctions, set to expire at midnight Saturday, target those linked to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, freezing assets and imposing travel bans.
This marks a reversal for Hungary, which had repeatedly blocked the renewal earlier this week.
