Iran has denied any involvement in the drone strike that killed three US soldiers in Jordan on Sunday, calling the accusations “baseless” and “provocative”.

The US blamed Iran-backed militias for the attack, which targeted a US base near the Syrian border. It was the first deadly strike on US forces since the war between Israel and Hamas erupted in October, sparking a new wave of violence in the Middle East.

Iran’s foreign ministry spokesperson Nasser Kanaani said on Monday that Iran had nothing to do with the attack and that the US was trying to create a pretext for more aggression in the region.
