Israeli authorities have demolished 17 homes in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, Palestinian sources reported on Wednesday.
“Israeli authorities demolished four houses east of the city of Jericho, under the pretext of building without a license,” the Palestinian Authority’s Wall and Settlements Resistance Commission said in a statement.
On the same day, Israeli bulldozers demolished a three-story house in the village of Beitlo, west of the city of Ramallah, according to local sources and eyewitnesses.
Israeli bulldozers also demolished 11 houses in the Umm al-Khair community in Masafer Yatta, south of the city of Hebron.
Nasr Nawajaa, a human rights activist in the community, told Xinhua that the Israeli forces demolished and bulldozed nearly a third of the community, which includes more than 30 houses and residences.
In East Jerusalem, the Israeli forces manually demolished a house in the Wadi Qaddum neighborhood in the town of Silwan as narrow roads there render bulldozers unable to operate, Palestinian sources reported.
There was no immediate comment from the Israeli side on the demolitions.
Israeli authorities usually say they demolish or confiscate Palestinian buildings that do not obtain necessary licenses, while the Palestinian side considers that such moves are aimed at expanding Israeli settlements.
