Syrian state media reported that at least five Syrian soldiers were killed and several others wounded in a series of Israeli missile attacks on Damascus and its surroundings on Saturday.

The attacks targeted the Damascus International Airport and several security checkpoints south of the capital, as well as an air defense base in the coastal province of Tartous, where Iranian-backed groups are active.
According to the Syrian Defense Ministry, Israel fired “bursts of missiles” from northeast of Lake Tiberias in Israel, and Syrian air defenses shot down some of the missiles. The attacks caused some “material damage” to the airport and other sites, but there was no confirmation if the airport operations were affected.
