NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said on Thursday that the alliance had no information indicating that a drone debris found on Romanian territory was part of an intentional attack by Russia against the NATO member.
Romania’s defense ministry said on Wednesday that it had discovered elements resembling drone debris near the village of Plauru, across the Danube from the Ukrainian port of Izmail, which was hit by Russian drones on Sunday night.
Romania’s president, Klaus Iohannis, called for an urgent and professional investigation into the incident, saying that if it was confirmed that the debris belonged to a Russian drone, it would be a serious violation of Romania’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
