Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammed Shtayyeh and his cabinet have submitted their resignation to President Mahmoud Abbas over the ongoing Israeli aggression in Gaza, which they described as a “genocide”.
Shtayyeh announced his decision at a cabinet meeting on Monday, saying that the current situation requires new political arrangements that take into account the reality in Gaza, where more than 30,000 people have been killed and 70,000 injured since the war began in October last year.
He also expressed his frustration with the lack of international action to stop the Israeli attacks and lift the blockade on the coastal enclave, which has caused severe humanitarian and economic crises.
