Denmark’s Prime Minister is under increasing pressure from anti-whaling activists who are demanding the immediate release of Paul Watson, the renowned marine conservationist and founder of the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society. Watson, who has been a vocal critic of whaling practices worldwide, was recently detained in Denmark, igniting a firestorm of protests and calls for his release.
Activists have taken on social media platforms, accusing the Danish government of prioritizing diplomatic relations over environmental justice. They argue that Watson’s detention undermines global efforts to protect marine life and promote sustainable practices. Protests have erupted in several cities, with demonstrators chanting slogans and holding banners demanding Watson’s freedom.
The activist called the arrest of Watson political motivated and demand immediate release.
French President Emmanuel Macron also intervene and press Danish authorities make immediately release and stop his extradition to Japan.
Japan commercial whaling have killed more than 4000 whales since 2013.
