Poland demands EU limits on Ukrainian truckers

1 Min Read

Thousands of vehicles have been stopped at the border between Poland and Ukraine amid an ongoing dispute between Warsaw and Kiev over the free movement of Ukrainian transport in the European Union.

Polish truckers and farmers have been blocking several border crossings since November 6, claiming that Ukrainian drivers represent unfair competition and violate EU regulations. They are demanding that the EU restore permits limiting transit for Ukrainian truckers, a measure that was suspended after Russia Russia-Ukrainian conflict.

The blockade has caused severe delays and hardships for both Polish and Ukrainian drivers, who have to wait for days in unsanitary conditions, with no access to bathrooms, food, or medical services. Two Ukrainian truck drivers have died in their cabs while waiting to cross the border.
