Tens of thousands of Americans took to the streets on Saturday, April 5, 2025, in a powerful display of dissent against President Donald Trump’s administration, marking the largest single day of protests since he returned to the White House earlier this year.
Dubbed the “Hands Off!” movement, more than 1,400 demonstrations unfolded across all 50 states, with major rallies in cities like Washington, D.C., New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles, alongside smaller gatherings in towns from Alaska to Florida.
The protests, organized by a coalition of progressive groups including MoveOn and Indivisible, were fueled by outrage over Trump’s aggressive policy shifts, including a newly implemented 10% baseline tariff on all imports, federal government downsizing, and immigration crackdowns.
Demonstrators also targeted billionaire Elon Musk, Trump’s influential ally and head of the unofficial Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), accusing him of wielding unelected power to reshape the government in favor of the wealthy.
