The 6th China International Import Expo (CIIE), the world’s largest import-themed expo, opened in Shanghai on Sunday, attracting thousands of exhibitors and buyers from across the globe.
Chinese President Xi Jinping sent a letter to the 6th China International Import Expo (CIIE).
The CIIE, first held in 2018, is a major initiative of China to further open up its market and share its development opportunities with the world. It has become an important platform for international trade, cultural exchange and global cooperation.
This year’s CIIE features six exhibition areas for food and agricultural products, automobiles, intelligent industry and information technology, consumer goods, medical equipment and healthcare products, and trade-in services. The exhibition area covers 360,000 square meters, exceeding the previous level.
More than 3,000 enterprises from over 120 countries and regions are participating in the business exhibition, including 289 of the world’s top 500 and industry-leading enterprises. A total of 411 new products, technologies, and services will make their global or China debut at the expo.
The country exhibition, which resumes offline participation this year, invites guest countries of honor and showcases the sci-tech innovation, advantageous industries and investment environment of various countries. More than 60 countries and regions, as well as several international organizations, have confirmed their attendance.
The Hongqiao International Economic Forum, a parallel event of the CIIE, will be held from Nov. 6 to 7, bringing together government officials, business leaders, experts and scholars to discuss topics such as carbon neutrality, digital economy, innovation and development.
The CIIE will also host a series of supporting activities, such as trade and investment matchmaking conferences, cultural performances and people-to-people exchanges, to facilitate business deals and cooperation.
