In the wake of the recent unrest in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, the evacuation of students continues as tensions between local and foreign students escalate. The conflict, which reportedly began after a video showing a fight between Kyrgyz and Egyptian medical students went viral on social media, has led to a series of violent incidents targeting foreign students.
The situation reached a critical point when hundreds of Kyrgyz men attacked buildings housing foreign students, prompting an urgent response from local authorities. A special flight has already transported 180 Pakistani students from Bishkek to Lahore, as the Kyrgyz police mobilized to quell the violence.
Pakistani students in Bishkek have recounted their experiences of fear and harassment, with many appealing for immediate evacuation. The Pakistani embassy’s lack of support has been a point of contention, as families desperately seek safety for their loved ones.
In response to the crisis, both Pakistan and India have issued advisories urging their students to stay indoors and to contact their respective embassies for assistance.
