A Tesla Cybertruck exploded outside the Trump International Hotel Las Vegas, resulting in the death of the vehicle’s driver and minor injuries to seven bystanders. The explosion occurred just outside the hotel’s main entrance, near the valet area, causing significant concern and prompting a swift response from local emergency services.
Authorities, including the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and the Clark County Fire Department, have confirmed that the Cybertruck was carrying fireworks, gas tanks, and camping fuel, which were likely the cause of the explosion. Surveillance footage indicates the truck was parked for only about 15 seconds before the blast occurred.
The incident is currently under investigation for potential links to terrorism, especially in light of another attack in New Orleans earlier on the same day, where a vehicle was also used to target crowds. The FBI has joined the investigation, considering the possibility that this could be an intentional act. However, there is no confirmed connection with the New Orleans event at this time.
Both vehicles involved in these separate incidents were reportedly rented through the car-sharing app Turo, raising questions about security protocols for vehicle rentals.
