China has announced that it will resume issuing all categories of visas for foreigners from March 15, 2023, ending three years of strict COVID-19 border measures that only allowed essential travel.

The move is seen as a major easing of China’s COVID-19 travel restrictions, which were imposed in early 2020 and gradually relaxed in late 2022.

The reopening of China’s tourism sector is expected to boost its economic recovery and enhance its cultural exchanges with other countries.
