The United States and Britain launched a joint military operation on Saturday targeting 36 Houthi sites in Yemen in response to the recent attacks by Iran-backed militants in the region.
The strikes were carried out by US warships and fighter jets, as well as British Typhoon FGR4 aircraft, from the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden. The Houthi targets included weapon launchers, radar systems, drones, and command and control facilities.
The operation was intended to degrade the Houthis’ capabilities and deter further attacks on US and international interests, according to a statement by the US Central Command. The US and Britain accused the Houthis of being proxies of Iran and supporting its destabilizing activities in the Middle East.
