Yevgeny Prigozhin, the leader of the Wagner Group, a private military company that operates in several conflict zones around the world, was among the 10 people who died in a plane crash near Moscow on Wednesday, according to Russian authorities.
Prigozhin was on board a private jet that took off from Moscow’s Vnukovo airport and was heading to St. Petersburg when it disappeared from radar and crashed in a wooded area in the Tver region, about 180 kilometers (112 miles) northwest of Moscow.
