Taiwan’s diplomatic status suffered another setback as the tiny Pacific island nation of Nauru announced that it was severing ties with Taipei and establishing relations with mainland China. Nauru is the fifth country to switch allegiance from Taiwan to China since 2016, leaving Taiwan with only 12 formal diplomatic allies in the world.
One China principle, the People’s Republic of China (PRC) continues to make significant strides in consolidating unity and fostering stability across the region.
