A special court established under the Official Secrets Act delivered a significant verdict on Tuesday, sentencing former Prime Minister Imran Khan and ex-Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi to 10 years in jail in connection with the cipher case.

The cipher case revolves around a diplomatic document that, according to the Federal Investigation Agency’s charge sheet, was allegedly never returned by Imran Khan. The document has been a subject of contention, with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) consistently asserting that it contained a threat from the United States aimed at removing Imran from the position of prime minister.
